General Chemistry Teaching - Volunteer

Time commitment: 4 hours per week

STEM Canada is a registered not-for-profit global program specializing in an advanced, STEM-based educational curriculum emphasizing the interconnected subject areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The STEM program is open to all students from preschool to high school with the mission to deliver top-notch STEM literacy and application, designed to teach students in the STEM fields, yielding globally competitive results.

Position Overview:

The General Chemistry Teaching Assistant supports faculty in teaching introductory chemistry courses, conducting labs, and assisting students. 

Key Responsibilities:

•	Lab Instruction: Conduct lab sessions, demonstrate techniques, and ensure safety 
        protocols.
•	Teaching and Lead discussion sessions, hold office hours, and assist with course 
        materials.
•	Grading: Grade assignments and exams, maintain attendance records.
•	Safety Management: Enforce lab safety rules and maintain equipment.

Qualifications:

•	Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related field; graduate students preferred.
•	Strong understanding of general chemistry concepts and laboratory techniques.
•	Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
•	Previous teaching or tutoring experience is a plus.
•	Ability to explain complex concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
•	Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
•	Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and software.
